About Laura Nyro
Laura Nyro (1947-1997) burst onto the scene as a Bronx teen in the early ‘60s. Bridging Tin Pan Alley, doo-wop, pop and soul music, she recorded 11 albums of her own intense, spiritually lush songs, many of which were covered by the likes of Barbra Streisand, Peter, Paul and Mary, Three Dog Night, and The Fifth Dimension. Never willing to compromise her art, Nyro paved the way for today’s women singer-songwriters and changed the face of contemporary music.
